High above the city of L.A., a team of terrorists has seized a building, taken hostages, and declared war. One man has managed to escape. An off-duty cop hiding somewhere inside. He’s alone, tired…and he doesn’t like Christmas. Come see a stage version of the holiday classic, complete with action, humor, Professor Snape taking people hostage, singing, dancing, the guy from ‘Family Matters,’ guns, puppets, explosions, the EPA guy from ‘Ghostbusters’ getting punched in the face, and Christmas miracles and familiar holiday friends galore. Maybe even an appearance by the legend himself, Santa Claus! Yippee Ki-Yay, Father Christmas!

Life goes by fast, and all you’ll remember are the most important parts, especially when it comes to someone you love. But those meaningful relationships are often truly defined by the little moments in between. Met Again, a moving new play by Jacob Smith, takes a look at the entirety of a unique but familiar relationship, from beginning to end, and how those big and small moments, connections, talks, fights, celebrations and experiences all come to mean something more. Sometimes hilarious, sometimes completely heartbreaking, Met Again is like watching a collection of home movies on fast forward… with someone whom you share a special kind of love.

How should rising actors do Comic-Con? Plus, a few updates!

Last week, Jenn and I snuck away from L.A. for a couple days and headed down to San Diego to celebrate our ninth anniversary, and also to take in some of this year’s Comic-Con.

This was my first time attending SDCC since 2013 (I’d been going regularly for one of my former jobs since 2010), and the first time I’d ever gotten to attend it as a Professional (thank you, Altered Spirits), instead of an Exhibitor.

Met Again was a real pleasure to work on at Fringe this year, because I feel like I really got to show off what the new instruments Jenn and I bought earlier this year are capable of doing. I mean, look at those gorgeous colors. Considering that we were telling a story in a non-traditional, non-literal format, I had a lot of freedom to play with color and brightness. The script also boasts excellent scenes that span the emotional spectrum, which really gave me something to sink my teeth into. In other words, I had a whole lot of fun simply cutting loose, and was very fortunate to have a supportive collaborator in Sean Fitzgerald, who encouraged me to play with the look for each scene. Can’t argue with solid results!
