The Boys of Spring and Fall is Judge’s Pick at Short and Sweet Hollywood

This weekend, my ten-minute play The Boys of Spring and Fall opened at Short and Sweet Hollywood 2017 at the Stella Adler Theatre at Hollywood and Highland. This production features Christian Levatino as aging superstar Barry Harrison and Gordon Martin Meacham as Luke Summers, hot-shit shortstop just called up from Triple-A for the first time.

Normally I hate it when a writer directs their own work (for a variety of reasons), however this opportunity came up on such short notice that I couldn’t find another director willing to jump in for such a quick process. So, when faced with a situation like this, you do what you have to do. Thankfully, I have an incredibly talented cast that has truly taken these roles and made them their own. When I say talented, I mean I can’t even begin to tell you how fortunate I am to work with Christian and Gordon on this show. They both bring such vigor and authentic, raw emotion to their roles. It’s a real treat to watch them work together and play off one another. I’m transfixed from beginning to end.

The show enjoyed a well-received four-night run during the first week of the Festival, and I’m thrilled to announce that the script was named the Week 1 Judge’s Pick! What does that mean? Well, it means that the show will go up again during the final weekend of the festival, where it will compete with the rest of the People’s Choice, Judge’s Pick and Festival Director’s Pick winners for the Best of Festival titles.

So what’s in it for you?

It means you have two more chances to catch this show! Join us Saturday, August 26th at 8pm or Sunday, August 27th at 7pm for the Final Gala! Tickets are $20 online (or there are a few discount tickets on Goldstar).
